Tracking accountability

When the news is full of stories about companies and governments taking questionable actions as it relates to protecting the planet, it is easy to wonder if there is any way to hold them accountable.

Turns out there are many organizations and individuals who are willing to raise the issues and ask the questions.

Ranging from a group of climate activists who took Dutch airline KLM to court for misleading advertising (aka greenwashing) to in a group of 16 young people who sued the State of Montana for violating their constitutional right to a clean environment.

There are many more examples of concerned citizens around the world taking action. Read about them in Columbia University’s database.

Is there anything you can do in your community to ask for accountability?
