Chicago accomplished a major milestone to kick off 2025. Every single one of its municipal buildings which number over 400 and includes its international airports, fire stations and libraries is now powered by renewable energy.
But Chicago is not the only city able to make that claim - cities in Canada (Vancouver), Australia (Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Sydney) and across Europe have also achieved this goal. More important than just this accomplishment though is that it demonstrates that cities play a strong leadership role in adopting renewable energy.
What about your city or town? Could you ask your mayor and council to consider moving towards powering municipal buildings with renewable energy - maybe starting small with just City Hall to start with and then setting other buildings as goals for the future?
