More than hope

The Merriam Webster dictionary definition of hope is: expectation of fulfillment or success.

We need hope in our life. It can help us move forward in times of uncertainty.

But according to a recent study, hope alone is not enough when it comes to climate change.

This thoughtful piece in the Guardian suggests that in relation to climate change, feeling distress is actually a better indicator of taking action.

Too much hope can stop us from taking action as we believe tomorrow will be better regardless if we act.

Perhaps a mix of emotions - hope, distress, frustration, sadness - are a good recipe for us to move from thinking about change to making it happen.
