France’s big step to reduce food packaging waste

Holding the plastic at your favorite takeout restaurant is a good step to reducing waste.

France has taken a bigger step.  At restaurants with 20 seats or more, you will now be provided with reusable cutlery and dishes when you eat in. While single use plastic had already been banned, it was replaced with other materials that continued to pile up in landfills.

This could reduce waste by over 90,000 tonnes each year from the over 30,000 fast food restaurants in the country.

Think about the amount of food packaging created the next time you eat-in for a quick bite. Wouldn’t having a less wasteful option be more appetizing?
