For Short Trips, Trains Are About As Fast As Airplanes

Next time you take a trip of about 200 miles, take a train and get there in the same amount of time as flying. You’ll emit far less carbon in the process.

200-MILE PLANE TRIP

2 hour wait + 1 hour flight + 30-minute commute = 3 hours 30 minutes, airport security hassle and about 82 KG of carbon per passenger

200-MILE TRAIN RIDE

15 minute wait + 3 hours 30-minutes train ride = 3 hours and 45 minutes, zero airport security hassle and about 13 KG of carbon per passenger

Do the math, the difference is 69KG of carbon per passenger. Share this with your company’s travel department or to the road warriors you know.
