Extending the warming stripes

A new study which included Professor Ed Hawkins of University of Reading, shows the change in temperatures in the atmosphere and the oceans.

Professor Hawkins is known for the ‘warming stripes’ visualizations to help understand the warming temperatures on the planet.

This latest study explores the changing temperatures above in the atmosphere and below in the ocean. With the results of the study, a new ‘warming stripes’ visualization was created.

Professor Hawkins suggests that ‘These new ocean and atmosphere stripes help anyone, regardless of their scientific background, to see and understand what's happening to our climate. The consistency of warming across different parts of Earth's climate system should leave no doubt that we're facing a critical moment that requires urgent action.”

See the latest visualization here and explore the other warming stripes.
