Europe's electricity hits a renewable milestone

Renewable electricity sources in the European Union hit a milestone in 2025, generating more electricity than fossil fuels. Driven by predominantly by solar, renewables created approximately 30% the EU's electricity. Fossil fuels created 29%.

The result follows years of policy-driven investment in renewables. The European Green Deal, launched in December 2019, introduced key policies to drive the clean electricity transition.

What will the 2026 numbers look like as this growth in green energy continues?
