A group of empowered and passionate young people have taken the state of Montana to court for violating their constitutional rights with the state's inaction around climate change. The case has been heard and it is now in the hands of the judge for her ruling.
While it is the first in the U.S., it isn’t the first case of its kind. To the north, youth in Canada have filed lawsuits against the federal government and the Ontario provincial government. While both cases were dismissed, we can take inspiration to hold governments accountable around the world accountable.
