Willie Smits is, among many other things, the founder of the Masarang foundation.
Check out this video about his work.
He’s not talking about what we should do, rather he has already proved what can be done, and showing to us that it is possible to regenerate the most degraded forest by human activity. Where deforestation had made a desert, where wildlife was extinct, he has been able to regrow a rainforest where agriculture can be integrated and the people can make their living in harmony with nature. In just 4 years he created jobs for 3.000 people, and changed the climate – no more flooding, no more fires.
We want to collectively celebrate Willie Smits for his example and commitment to reforestation. Let’s let him know we appreciate his efforts by thanking him on social media. Your post could sound something like this:
Hey Willie Smits, Thanks for leading by example. Thank you for taking action and showing us that it’s possible to restore the damage we have done to nature and wildlife. You give us hope and reasons to contribute to a better world. #itsnottoolate #factsconnectionaction #thecarbonalmanac
