Using policy to enact change

The state of California has developed many policies to support carbon emission reduction. The latest law, SB253, will require businesses of a certain size to publicly report on both direct and indirect emissions.

Direct emissions are from the company's operations and the electricity it uses. These emissions tend to be easier to address than indirect emissions which occur as part of the supply chain.

The timeline is for direct emission reporting to being in 2026, and indirect to follow a year later in 2027.

What climate policies exist in your area? Are there local organizations that could use your support in getting the government to do more?
