No Need For (That Much) Meat

Though meat contains beneficial nutrients such as protein, B vitamins and iron, we don’t need to eat it everyday to maintain a healthy diet. Eating too much meat can actually be bad for your health.

Replacing meat with plant based food is good for you and for the planet! Even better is normalizing this choice, spreading the word, and encouraging stores and restaurants to do the same.

We evolved from herbivores to omnivores long ago, but the quantities of meat eaten today per capita in Europe and the Americas is a rather new phenomenon and has its origins in the late 19th century with the rise of industrialisation and urbanization.

Nowadays science links eating a lot of processed and red meat (> 50 grams per day) to a higher risk of a number of diseases, such as: stroke, colon cancer, type 2 diabetes and lung cancer.

By replacing red and processed meat with vegetables, pulses, nuts or eggs, you can reduce the risk of disease while you help save the planet!
