Help Bees Survive Climate Change

Climate change causes irregular weather patterns which can create a mismatch of seasonal changes. This can cause flowers to bloom before or after the bees emerge.

All species of bees pollinate the fruit-bearing plants we eat to thrive, but they can’t do their job if they are malnourished from emerging too early from abnormally warm weather in late winter. One simple thing you can do to help is to plant cold-resistant flowers like pansies in late winter so that bees have a drop of nectar for nourishment if they happen to emerge early before trees and other native plants begin to bloom.

None of us are going to save the bees on our own. But if you share ideas and organize in your community, group action can make a difference.

You can also check out and share this link for simple, low-cost ideas to help bees whose hard work helps feed us.
