Bhutan, Beyond Carbon Neutral

Bhutan is not just carbon neutral– it is the only carbon negative country in the world.

This small South Asian country removes more CO2 from the atmosphere than it emits. One way they achieve this is by maintaining their forests–a whopping 72% of Bhutan is covered by trees (by contrast, North America has only 40% of its forests remaining). They were able to achieve this, in part, because they value happiness over economic output.

We can build a different sort of future because examples like Bhutan show us it’s possible.
